By: Joey Vento

Steve Jobs was a creative genius and a true visionary. He had the ability to give us what we wanted before we even knew we wanted it ourselves. Nobody has made greater advances in technology the way that Steve Jobs did with Apple. He has shaped the way we listen to music, surf the Internet, use our cell phones, and much more. His innovations have personalized technology as well as making it extremely comfortable and enjoyable to use. In building easy ways to use our devices, Steve has also played a major role for the shaping social media.

Social media is a form of social interaction or communication through mobile technologies. No devices have made this easier to do than iPads and iPhones, which have sold over 450,000 and 50 million respectively. With applications such as Twitter and Facebook on these devices it makes utilizing social mediums much more effective. Social media is instantaneous and always relevant even when it is constantly evolving. Steve Jobs mastered the notebook and even the pocket-sized computers we carry around with us. We are able to update people immediately, making social media much more proficient.

Not only should we recognize Steve Jobs because this is the blog of an Understanding Social Media class, but his ability to shape the way Americans live will remain unmatched for a long time. The co-founder of the most powerful brand of our generation may have left us physically, but his legacy will last forever.

“Be a yardstick of quality. Some people aren’t used to an environment where excellence is expected,” said Steve Jobs. Rest in peace Mr. Jobs.
