The Multicultural Student Union is a club on the Lasell College campus that promotes diversity on campus through educational and social events. Next month they will be hosting an event for the Search for a Cure organization in Boston. The group will be facilitating Hoops for Aids, an event meant to bring the community together and promote awareness about HIV/AIDS. Hoops for Aids is a basketball game made up of students, faculty and alumni with hopes of raising money to donate to Search for a Cure. During the event there will be raffles, performances and information on HIV/AIDS and what we can do to help as a community.
The event is going to be held in the Athletic Center at Lasell College on November 30th, from 8:30 pm to 10:30 pm. The program will start with a presentation about where all of the proceeds will go. There will be a bracket competition of basketball games leading to the winning team of the event. All teams will be made up of five people which can be students, alumni and faculty. Each team gives a $10 donation. Lasell mens basketball Captain Javon Williams will referee the games. President Michael Alexander willalso participate in a 3 point shooting contest.
The event was a success last year with the Multicultural Student Union donating over $200 towards Search for a Cure. This year they hope to raise at least $1000 for the cause. For more information on the event please contact Tsmith@Lasell.Edu.
