Rugby Coach Arrives at LasellPosted: February 13, 2012
Little known to Lasell students, the three year old Lasell College Rugby Club hasn’t had a coach until now. Members of gave a sigh of relief over finally having a coach to improve their skills. Eric Wilson was chosen by Lasell Rugby’s advisor Kristen and members of lasell’s activities board to be the new head coach.
The team got the good news through an e-mail sent by Gallo . The email stated the experience and knowledge of the new coach. The team learned coach Wilson’s rugby experience began in college, where he was a 4 year starter on the field. He has played virtually every position and after college he began playing with the Boston Irish RFC. Wilson also has extensive experience in the health and fitness industry as the owner of his own personal training business. He hopes to bring his love of the game, his personal fitness knowledge, and his experience on the field to Lasell College.
For some of the players on the team it means a little more to finally have a coach. Player and co-founder of Lasell College Rugby, Mike Costello, has been searching since the very beginning to have this opportunity.
The additional knowledge and experience a new coach will bring to the team should boost the team’s skill tenfold. An already great team who won their division with an undefeated season, Lasell’s Rugby Club should do some amazing things in the next few years with this addition.
The players will meet with their coach on February, 9th and will soon start practices.
